What We Believe
Statement of Faith:
The Holy Bible is the inspired word of God and is the basis for our statement of faith. We band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ, personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to lost mankind. The ordinances of the Church are baptism and the Lord's Supper.
The Lordship of Jesus:
Christ is the only mediator between God and man. He is the living Lord of the Bible and the living Lord of today.
The Supremacy of Scripture:
The Bible is our guide. Each believer, with the help of the Holy Spirit, is encouraged to study the Scriptures to show himself approved. The Bible is our final authority on faith and conduct.
The Priesthood of Believers:
Every person can approach God directly through Christ. Personal faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to God the Father. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God" (Eph. 2:8). However, one cannot be a priest by himself; one needs to be a part of the church, and a witness to others.
Believer's Baptism:
Baptism is only administered to those who believe and follow Christ. The ordinance of baptism has no meaning apart from the spiritual change which has already taken place within the believer. Immersion is the only form of baptism taught in the Bible and used in the early church; therefore, we baptize by immersion. Immersion symbolizes death to sinful living and our being raised to a new life in Christ.
We Are Committed
To be an evangelical spiritual organism empowered by the Holy Ghost to share Christ in word and deed with as many people as possible.
To be a worshipping fellowship, expressing an awareness of God, recognizing in obedience His leadership.
To experience an increasingly meaningful fellowship with God and fellow believers.
To help people experience a growing knowledge of God and man and to be a church that ministers unselfishly to others in the community in Jesus' name.
To be a church whose purpose is to be Christ-like in our daily living by emphasizing total commitment of life, personality and possessions to the Lordship of Christ.
To tear down walls of racism and denominationalism that separate the people of God.
Our Vision
The vision is that of Friendship Chapel as a church which is alive and fully functioning, fulfilling the Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations, (Matthew 28:19) and obeying the Great commandments to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind and love our neighbor as ourselves.(Luke 10:27) Functioning as a body on one accord,(Acts 2:1), we eagerly carry out the purpose of the church through missions, evangelism, discipleship, fellowship and worship. We will be a light to the world, (Matthew 5:14), empowered by the Holy Spirit. to be:
· a church obedient to the Word of God and the authority of God
· a praying church
· a believing church
· a witnessing church
· a loving and caring church
· a giving church
· a thankful church
· and an inclusive church, respectful of all cultures, Christian denominations and faiths.
